Most of the farmers are marginal, yet there is sufficient dependence on agriculture. The marginal farmers still use bulls for ploughing the fields. 70% of the fuel consumption of the households is fulfilled by cow dung. The soil organic carbon content is 0.21 to 0.40%. Poor soil fertility.
The region has predominantly two agriculture season area. 10% of land is used in zaid season (maize, menthe). The average yield of paddy is 16-20 quintal per acre. The average yield of wheat is 12-15 quintal per acre. Maize, oilseed and pulses also cultivated. Poor availability of quality agriculture inputs, that too not on time.
